Itinerary

Your landing in Kathmandu marks the start of your Makalu Base Camp Trek. You have to make your way to your accommodation. You can unwind and prepare for your trip there. As you stroll through Thamel's narrow streets, you may also shop for travel essentials and keepsakes.

There are bustling streets, vibrant temples, enormous pagodas, and bustling marketplaces everywhere.

You will start your Makalu Base Camp Trek by boarding a domestic flight to Tumlingtar. The journey typically takes thirty to forty minutes, and the windows provide breathtaking views of the Alps.

After arriving in Tumlingtar, you will travel through Khandbari and Hururu in a vehicle to Num. In addition, the route goes past lovely towns, farms, and woods. Spend the night at Num's tea house.

You'll get ready for the trek to Sedua after breakfast at the Num tea house. You will first descend steeply through Num's terraced farmlands to the Barun River. You'll be able to escape the heat after you cross the river and start strolling through the forest's shadows.

Your guide will proceed to the checkpoint at Makalu-Barun National Park to verify your permission. Throughout the mountain, Seduwa is home to several residences, a school, a few shops, and a few tea houses.

Today's trek is fantastic; it doesn't have the hard climbs and descents as yesterday's did. You'll pass past several mani walls and begin your ascent up a route with countless stone steps as you get closer to the Sherpa hamlet.

Many Buddhist prayer flags and miniature chortens may be seen when traveling from Sedhuwa to Tashigaon.

For a journey to be successful, acclimatization days must be regular. This day should be used for acclimatization as well as seeing the village and admiring the scenery.

Your plan for the Makalu Base Camp Trek states that today is the day for acclimatization. You exit your tea house and make your way up stone stairs between bushes of rhododendrons.

The Makalu Base Camp Trek Itinerary takes you through a tranquil and picturesque rhododendron woodland on the sixth day. There are many suspension bridges and ridges throughout the walk route.

After almost three hours of driving, you reach Dhara, which is 2,867 meters above sea level and offers a tea house. You have to climb for around an hour to reach Unshisa at 3,200m, where you have to traverse a massive rock after leaving Dhara.

You finally reach a stone resting place with prayer flags after many hours of arduous climbing from Unshisha. From there, it's another 45 minutes of walking to Khongma Danda.

The trekking today is a little challenging because you'll be climbing some heights and navigating several twists and turns. A stunning, holy, and deserted valley in the Makalu area is called Barun Valley.

For hikers, there are some short-term camping areas. You will arrive at one of these locations today. You will arrive at Mumbuk after a strenuous 6-to 7-hour hike via several turns and turns. This is one of the areas set aside for temporary camping in the Barun Valley.

Following your rest stop in Mumbuk, you will now go to Nehe Kharka, another makeshift campground in the Barun Valley. There's a steep slope through the forest that might be dangerous if there's still snow on the ground.

There is plenty of flora along the rather simple walking track that leads from Mumbuk to Nehe Kharka. Despite the lack of nearby trees, the holy grounds of Barun Valley are exquisitely blanketed in greenery.

On this ninth day, you will trek to Makalu Base Camp, the base of the fifth-tallest peak in the world. Moreover, spend the night in the base camp's tea house. Every time you turn a corner, there will be something fresh and breathtaking to marvel at.

Most of the time, you are on a regular, sandy route. However, there are a few places where you have to walk between boulders. As one might expect, Makalu, the world's fifth-highest mountain, completely commands the scene. Mountain finches, black redstarts, hill pigeons, and Tibetan snow cocks are frequently spotted in the vicinity of the base camp.

With heavy hearts, you will leave the breathtaking beauty of Mount Makalu behind and begin your trek down to Yangle Kharka. Reaching Shershong's meadow, which is designated by a cabin with a bright orange tarpaulin, takes around one and a half hours.

You return to Langmale after about an hour, where you might have tea and possibly lunch. After going downward for around 45 minutes, you will arrive next to Merek's tea house.

Here, with a cup of tea, you should unwind before carrying on with your Makalu Base Camp Trek Route through pine woods back to Yangle Kharka. Yangle Kharka may be reached in two to three hours from the Merek tea house.

This is your final opportunity to see the stunning vistas of the high peaks, which include Kangchenjunga. You start climbing towards the Keke La. You will go across Tutu La Pass and pause at Sano Pokhari (lake) for a photo opportunity.

The stunning mountain bird known as the crimson pheasant may be spotted on your walk to Khongma beyond Sano Pokhari. The walk is tranquilized by the sounds of birds and rhododendron woods.

You leave Makalu Barun Conservation Area when you trek from Khongma Danda to Sedua. Along the way, you'll descend stone-paved stairs, walk through dense forest, over many suspension bridges, and see local wildlife.

After leaving the Makalu-Barun National Park, you will cross a mountaintop, travel down the Barun River, pass through forests of rhododendrons and bamboo, and arrive at Seduwa, where you will spend the night at a local lodge.

The journey down to the Arun River will be lengthy and somewhat challenging, with much of the ascent occurring on stone steps. As you get farther into the forest, the air will get rather warm. You'll have to climb back to Num after crossing the river.

To go to Tumlingtar, you'll board a bus. The tea house in Tumlingtar will be your place of overnight lodging.

You'll hop on the plane headed for Kathmandu. In 50 minutes, you may unwind and arrive in Kathmandu while taking in the breathtaking flight from Tumlingtar. Our trekking journey to Makalu Base Camp concludes when you arrive in Kathmandu.
